altThe Active Hose Company was established in 1873. altaltDONALD J. TABER age 80 of Mount Morris, NY, died Tuesday March 1, 2022 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, NY. He was born the son of Lynford and Mabel (Mattoon) Taber on September 20, 1941 in Sonyea, NY. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard from 1960-68 during the Vietnam War. He married Brenda DiSalvo on September 27, 1997. Prior to his retirement in 1997 he was employed as a safety officer at Craig Development Center in Sonyea for over 36 years. He also worked for the Mount Morris Police Department and was a former Village Zoning officer. He also worked as a Bus Driver for Adonnino Brothers and the ARC of Livingston and Wyoming County. He joined the Groveland Fire Department in 1958 then be became a member of the Mount Morris Fire Department in 1968 having served as Past Chief of the Department for 2 different terms 1984-85 and 2001-2002, Livingston County VFA and County Chiefs Association where he was a past president, Western New York Firemen’s Association serving as Trustee for Livingston County, FASNY, New York State Chiefs Association. He was also a member of the Hally-Allen American Legion Post 1341 in Sonyea, American Veterans #187 and Color Guard in Dansville, Dansville Moose Lodge, Genesee Valley Masonic Lodge #122, AFL-CIO Council #82 retirees and the Advisory Board for NYS Corrections. He is survived wife of nearly 25 years Brenda DiSalvo-Taber, Children Mark Taber, Lisa Taber and Reed Taber all of Rochester, Cindy Taber of Nunda and Step-son James (Rebecca) DiSalvo of Rochester. alt NICHOLAS J. REGONI age 56 of Mount Morris, died suddenly Wednesday August 11, 2021 at his home in Mount Morris. He was born the son of Michael and Teresa (Macchirella) Regoni on March 30, 1965 in Dansville, NY. He graduated from Mount Morris Central in 1983. Prior to his retirement he worked as a Paramedic for AMR in Rochester for over 35 years. He was a member of the Mt. Morris Fire Department for over 32 years and a former member of the Mount Morris Ambulance Corp. He is survived by his son Nicholas J. Regoni Jr. of Avon, step-son Dakota (Brianna) Collins of Mt. Morris. 2 sisters Claudia Peritore and Margaret Balcom both of Mount Morris. Niece Ashleigh Martin and Nephews Chad & Scott Peritore and David Martin. Several great nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear and loving friends. He was predeceased by his wives Suki in 1993 and Lora Ward in 2018 and parents Michael and Teresa Regoni. alt GEORGE W. SWANSON age 87 of Geneseo, NY formerly of Mount Morris, NY, died peacefully on Wednesday May 26, 2021 at the Teresa House in Geneseo, NY. He was born the son of Carl and Grace (Stamp) Swanson on October 6, 1933 in Warsaw, NY. He married Joyce Owen on June 18, 1986. Prior to his retirement in 1989 he was employed as an Officer for the University Police at SUNY Geneseo for over 25 years. He had also worked on the Swanson family farm, Foster Wheeler in Dansville, and the Craig Developmental Center in Sonyea. He and his wife, Joyce, also owned and operated Allan’s Hill Bed and Breakfast in Mount Morris for 23 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tuscarora and PEF. He was a former member of the Mount Morris Town Council for 8 years, Active Hose Company of the Mount Morris Fire Department, Mount Morris Ambulance, and the Mount Morris Grange in Tuscarora. He had also formed the first Boy Scout troop at Sonyea. George was very involved with his town and community and his love of farming was always in his heart. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 35 years Joyce. 8 children Carl (Regina) Swanson of Mt. Morris, Margot Swanson of New Hampshire, Gail (Larry) Valentino of West Sparta, Karlene (Carol) Parshall of Georgia, Kathie (John) Roberts of North Carolina, Patti Duel of Rochester, Joseph (Julie) Parshall of Georgia and Jon Parshall of Rochester. 12 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. 2 brothers Bill Swanson and Ed Swanson both of Mount Morris. Many nieces, nephews and dear and loving friends. He was predeceased by his son Ronald Parshall Jr. in 1994 and his sister Sheila Saunders in 1989. No prior calling hours. He was born the son of Salvatore and Carol (Andolina) Provino on May 16, 1959 in Dansville, NY. He married Debbie Strait on August 4, 1978. Prior to his retirement in 2018 he was employed for over 30 years for the Rochester Laborer’s Union Local #435 having worked with Sealand Construction. He was a member 42 year member of the Active Hose Company of the Mount Morris Fire Department and was the Chief from 1994 to 1996, Livingston County Chief Association and the Laborer’s Union Local #435 in Rochester. He loved classic cars. He is survived by his wife of over 42 years Debbie. 2 children Tracy Provino of Mt. altRONALD WILLIAM MOYER age 79 of Mount Morris, NY, died suddenly on Saturday October 24, 2020 at his home. He was born the son of Manning and Mary (Scott) Moyer on June 13, 1941 in Warsaw, NY. He graduated from Mount Morris Central School in 1958. He married Rose LoVerde on May 26, 1972. He served in the Navy and Army Reserve from 1958 to 1962 and retired as Sergeant First Class from the Army National Guard at the Seneca Army Depot in 2001 after more the 30 total years of service for his country. He was a member of the Perry VFW Post, Lifetime member of the Wayland American Legion and nearly a 50 year member of the Active Hose Company of the Mount Morris Fire Department. Ron loved to go hunting, fishing, target shooting, history and watching baseball. He is survived by his loving wife of over 48 years Rose. His children JoAnn (Andrew) LoVerde-Dropp of Georgia, ToniAnn (David) Montione of Oregon, Veronica (Mike Nevelus) Medline of Florida, Kenneth (Donna) Moyer of Virginia and Stephen Moyer of Florida. He was born the son of Dewey and Helena (Nice) Carey on October 3, 1930 in Dansville, New York. He was a veteran of the Navy from 1948 to 1952. He married Mary Jane D’Imperio on May 21, 1955. Prior to his retirement in 1985 he was employed as an Electrician at Craig Development Center in Sonyea. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, the Hally-Allen American Legion Post # 1341 in Sonyea, the Active Hose Company of the Mount Morris Fire Department for over 41 years and CSEA. Prior to his retirement in 1995 he was employed as a Truck Driver for over 30 years at Genesee Stone in LeRoy, NY. He was a member of the United Church of Mount Morris, Mount Morris Ambulance, the Active Hose Company of the Mount Morris Fire Department for over 60 years and a life member of the Mount Morris American Legion Post. He is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years Joyce. 3 children Lori Bartram of Venice, Florida, Wendi Occhioni of Retsof and Timothy (Tom Vitale) Burch of East Hampton. He was born the Son of Carmelo and Jennie (Zaso) Mancuso on September 7, 1931 in Mount Morris, NY. He served in the Navy from 1955 to 1957. He was a life resident of Mt. Morris. He married Debora Gath on November 14, 2005. He retired from the Mount Morris Post office as a letter carried having worked there for over 30 years. He also owned and Operated the Mount Morris Airpark since 1986 and was an avid pilot. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Mt. Morris, Dansville Moose Lodge and an Exempt member of the Active Hose Company of the Mount Morris Fire Department. He is survived by his loving wife Debora. 2 sons Anthony Mancuso of Mt. He was born the son of John M. and Jeannetta (Roderick) Hackett on December 13, 1929, in Mount Morris, New York where he was a life resident of Mount Morris. He was the co-owner of John M. Hackett & Sons Plumbing and Heating in Mount Morris along with his Brother Jack for nearly 50 years. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Mount Morris. He was a member of the Active Hose Company of the Mount Morris Fire Department for over 65 years. Raymond enjoyed wood working and working on many projects in his wood working shop, especially making many projects for his children, such as benches, stools, display cases, or anything that needed to be built or repaired, such as his and his children’s homes. He was a passionate St. Louis Cardinal's Fan, and really enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was predeceased by his brother and business partner Jack Hackett in 2010 He is survived by his loving wife Jeanne Hackett; 3 daughters; Erinn (Guy) Brickwood, Erica (Joel) Mike and Monica (Mike) Brill all of Mt. He was a member of the Active Hose Company of the Mount Morris Fire Department for nearly 50 years and a former member of the Leicester Fire Police. alt Dansville- John William Zangerle age 90, passed away late Monday night at Noyes Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was born in Mt. Morris on November 1, 1925, a son of the late William and Eugenia (Stollsteimer) Zangerle Sr. He was also predeceased by his brothers Robert, Gordon, and Howard Zangerle, a Sister Irene Carney, a son in law Bill Kincaid. John graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1943, After Graduation he enlisted in the Navy in 1944. On August 23, 1947 he married Betty Joan Webb who survives. John was a devoted member of the Mt. Morris Fire Department Active Hose. John worked as a Physical Plant Painter for Sonyea until he retired. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Betty, his children Thomas (Mary) Zangerle of Medina, Michael (Linda) Zangerle of Nunda, Gail Kincaid of South Carolina, and Jane (Bob) Hagen of Chicago. He was born the son of Anthony and Sebastiana (Priaino) Pagano on April 8, 1932 in Groveland, New York. He was a veteran of the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He married Jean Turco on November 17, 1956. Prior to his retirement in 2001 he owned and operated Pete’s Sunoco in Mount Morris as well as several other Service stations for 45 years. He was a member of the Grace and Truth Christian Fellowship Church, the Mt. Morris American Legion and VFW Posts, a 60 year member of the Active Hose Company of the Mount Morris Fire Department and a member of the Keshequa Golf Club in Sonyea. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years Jean, 3 children Linda (Carmen) Vitali of Henrietta, Peter N. alt GERALD R. "JERRY” GEHRIG age 74 of 12 Hopkins Street, Mount Morris, NY, died Tuesday June 16, 2015 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born on March 6, 1941 in Warsaw, NY. He was a veteran of the Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1967. He married Stephanie Gurtkowski on April 14, 2001. Prior to his retirement in 2001 was a 5th grade teacher at the Dalton School for Keshequa Central School for over 30 years. He also worked as an Officer for the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department from 1972 to 1998, NYS Park Police at Letchworth State Park for over 34 years,he also worked for the Mount Morris Police Department and was Deputy Fire Coordinator “C3” for Livingston County for over 35 years. He was a 56 year member of the Active Hose Company of the Mount Morris Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief from 1973-74, Past President of the Active Hose Company and former Secretary/Treasurer of the Department. He was Past President of Western New York VFA from 2011-12. Member of the Livingston County Chiefs Association having served as past president, Livingston County VFA, FASNY and NYS Chiefs Association. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church the Hally-Allen American Legion Post 1341 in Sonyea, NY where he was Past commander, NYS and Livingston County Retired Teachers Association. He served on the Mount Morris Village Board for 24 years and as Deputy Mayor for 8 years. Jerry enjoyed golfing and bowling. He is survived by his loving Wife Stephanie and Daughter Leah. altFRANCIS J. “WILLY” CUCINOTTA age 75 of 39 Case Street, Mount Morris, NY, died Tuesday February 3, 2015 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. He was born the son of Marco and Josephine (Sciortino) Cucinotta on April 5, 1939 in Warsaw, NY. He married Serena Macaluso on March 3, 1962. Prior to his retirement he was employed by the Rochester Laborer Union Local 435 for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and the Active Hose Company of the Mount Morris Fire Department since 1963. He is survived by his loving wife of over 52 years Serena. 2 daughters Roxanne (Frank) Wirt of Dalton and Renee` (Jim) Parlavecchio of Henrietta. 6 grandchildren Kerianne, Nicholas and James Parlavecchio, Francis & Larry Wirt and China (Brian) Wirt-Lance. Great Grandchildren Carter and Ruby. Sister Delores (Sam) DioGuardi of Mt. Morris, 2 brothers Frank Cucinotta of Rochester and John Cucinotta of Avon. Many loved nieces and nephews. alt FRANK S. “Hank” DiSalvo age 88 of 20 Damonsville Street, Mount Morris, NY died Saturday September 6, 2014 at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia, NY. He was born the son of Salvatore and Rose DiSalvo on May 3, 1926 in Mount Morris, NY. He was a life long resident of Mount Morris. He was a veteran of the Air Force during World War II having served as a Gunner on B17’s. He married Grace LaChuisa on September 3, 1949. Prior to his retirement in 1989 he was employed as a Electrical instructor at the Charles G. May Center in Mount Morris for over 18 years. He also worked as a Union Electrician in Rochester prior to his teaching. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church where he served as a usher, the Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Mt. Morris Kiwanis Club, Mount Morris American Legion Post, Mt. Morris Ambulance and the Active Hose Company of the Mount Morris Fire Department for over 50 years. He is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years Grace. 2 sons Frank (Patty) DiSalvo II of Irondequoit and David (Lyn) DiSalvo of Mt. Morris. 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. alt Terry F. Ferrara, age 69, passed away unexpectedly Monday, December 23, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Terry was born November 3, 1944 in Mt. Morris, a son of Francis & Emma (Gill) Ferrara. He was a resident of Mt. Morris for most of his life. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving in the Vietnam Conflict from 1965 to 1971. He worked construction and was a member of the Rochester Local Union. Terry married Theresa "Terri" Levee on May 22, 1992; she survives. In addition to his parents, Terry was also predeceased by a brother, Teddy Ferrara. Terry was also a member of the Active Hose Co. # 2 of the Mt. Mt. Morris Volunteer Fire Dept. for over 40 years. The Masonic Lodge # 122 in Mt. Morris and the Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a talented craftsman, but most of all he loved spending time with his family & friends. Terry is survived by his wife of 21 years. Theresa "Terri" Levee-Ferrara; his step-sons, Dennis, Douglas & Donald (Danielle) Sawdey; a grandson, Douglas Michael Sawdey son of Douglas Sawdey & Kristy McNeil; a brother, Timothy Ferrara Sr. a niece, Traci (Keith) Provo; a nephew, Timothy Ferrara; several great nieces, great nephews & cousins. He was born the son of Allyn and Alice (Williams) Hanna on August 5, 1936 in Mt. Morris, NY. He married Edith Taft on August 9, 1958. Prior to his retirement in 1991 he was employed as a Project Manager at Eastman Kodak in Rochester for over 25 years. He was a 46 year member of the Active Hose Company of the Mount Morris Fire Department having joined in 1967, Mount Morris Masonic Lodge for nearly 45 years, social member of the Hally-Allen American Legion Post in Sonyea and the United Church of Mt. Morris. He is survived by his loving wife Edith. 2 children R. Michael (Kristie) Hanna of Leicester and Karen (James) Williams of Williamson. 5 Grandchildren Bryan, Brendan, Andrew, Meagan and Morgan. 2 brothers Jack and Bruce (Donna) Hanna. Prior to his retirement in 2010 he was a Mail delivery driver for Steve Bartholomew Transportation services at the Mount Morris Post office for nearly 5 years. He was a member of the Active Hose Company and Fire police Lieutenant of the Mount Morris Fire Department, the Western New York Volunteer Firemen's Association and a social member of the Hally-Allan American Legion Post in Sonyea. He is survived by his loving wife Joyce. 2 Children Lynn Carter of Gates and Brian (Mary) Taylor of Churchville. 2 step children Tina (Dennis) Jones of Perry and Teresa (Lance) Riley of Dansville and 1 adopted daughter Susan Koch of Gates. 4 grandchildren Christopher, Chad, Colin & Conor, 6 Step grandchildren Ashley, Matt, McKenzie, Emica, Cassidy & Allexa. He was a member of the Active Hose Company and Past Fire Chief of the Mount Morris Fire Department in 1965. He served St. John the Evangelist Church in Spencerport as an usher. Al always looked forward to cooking Christmas Dinner for his family. He readily shared his passion for cooking with others. Al enjoyed hunting, working on cars, cooking, gardening, trips to the casino, restoring cars, trapping, outdoors. He always seemed to have a project car around. Al was a baseball fan, he loved the Mets and the Yankees. He enjoyed going to breakfast with family and friends, especially his dear friend Paul Zontek and going for rides in the car.
